I’m in the process of selling my Alembic 1990 Flame Koa Persuader Bass guitar and am looking for Taurus pedals! I’ll also be looking for a Little Phatty but first things first.
I want to start a Rush tribute band.
Thanks

Try E-Bay. Taurus II pedals are much easier to find than Taurus I’s. Also, if you’re in America, you can check Music-Go-Round…I think there was a set in a couple of their locations. They also ship across states for a fee, but their reasonable prices offset the cost.
Also, check back here for developments. The forums are popular among synth restorers, and someone may have a restored set for sale. Good luck!
UPDATE: The Littleton Colorado Music-Go-Round has a set of Taurus II pedals with controls and AC for $1699.99.
Thank you very much!
Or…
You could try the Roland PK5 pedals and a Little phatty stage. That would run you about teh same price, Then you’d have both!!!
No problem! ![]()
Oh yeah.
The pk5 are just midi pedals. You would connect them to the phatty and use the phatty as the sound source and pk5 as the controller.
That’s the first combination I was looking at.
But, can the PK-5 drive one sound from the Little Phatty while I’m playing other patch sounds on the Keyboard of the Little Phatty?
That’s how the Synth intro part of Rush’s La Villa is.
The way they actually do it is Geddy plays two different parts on the keyboard while Alex plays a Bass part intermitantly on Taurus pedals from his side of the stage while playing his arpeggio guitar part.
I’m not expecting anyone else to put out the expence of buying a synth rig on top of their Guitar gear, just because I am.
I’m expecting the entire synth aspect of this project to fall on me.
I’ve also been told that if I want to do Tom Sawyer or The Camera Eye, I need a Poly synth aka: Oberheim OB-X.
Nope.

I think we all need one of those. But surely you don’t need a poly synth to play Sawyer.
Considering Geddy uses a Little Phatty for Tom Sawyer these days, whoever told you that you need a poly synth for that song is blowing smoke out his ass.
And you can tell him I said that too! ![]()
Heres a nice video of them in the studio here.
About 1:30 see if you can guess what synth he’s using.
Actually, I take it back…it you wanted to do the Taurus part and the keyboard line simultaneously, I guess you would need a poly synth…

My Alembic is on ebay now!
Good luck with the sale and the search!
After keeping a hopeful eye out for either a Taurus I or II for several years, I finally went the PK-5/Little Phatty route. Can’t say I’m disappointed. I also have an MFB Synth Lite II that I enjoy - I control it with an Oxygen keyboard or the PK-5. Usually just one at a time, together with bass, though I visualize playing both synths simultaneously sometimes…
It looks like a Mini. But when he plays live, he uses the Little Phatty.
I live near Littleton, and I played this set of T-2s this morning - they did not sound too good - they need to be serviced. Why pay $1699 for crusty T-2s when you could have new T-3s for the same price?
i believe that is the custom job that geddy had done its an oberheim 8 voice with a minimoog model d built into it. i have a pic in on of my guitar or keyboard magazines lying around here ill see if i can find it. but yeah it doesnt get much better than that
EDIT: the internet is grand and wonderful thing heres a link to the pic http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/wallpaper/MPtourgeddy.jpg
I want that! ![]()
Actually, those II’s were the best deal going before Moog announced the T III. Thanks for checking them out and posting your findings, though! ![]()
