Good luck with your search.
Thanx Sir, what better place to start looking then here ![]()
Really hope to get my hands on one..
The Moog vocoders are rare and thus high priced.
Every one I’ve ever worked on was owned by someone fairly rich.
(last one I saw was Daft Punk’s)
Expect to pay from $5K to $8K for one.
They are very good sounding vocoders though.
I especially like running a drum machine in one channel and a microphone in the other.
I wish you the best of luck finding a good one at a reasonable price.
Btw, this Moog vocoder below is priced at only $1450.
The ad doesn’t indicate it’s been sold, but has been listed for almost a year.
$1450 Canadian is only $1438 US dollars too.
Again… good luck!

Thank you Kevin,
i know its a long shot but the search has to start somewhere ![]()
Im hoping to find one between 3 and 4k euro and thats about as much as i can pay for one.
Again hoping to find one in europe cause there’s no room for customs ![]()
Items have been sold here in europe i didnt have the drive and money to buy one back then.
But for now ill consider any one that come’s by. Time and patiance will do the trick.
Thanx for the link btw.
And thanx for the upate
Well here’s the first to pass by,
one rare string filter is included.
Unfortunatly over my price range ![]()
Hi Kevin!
Do you think the MOOG 16 Channel Vocoders are only high-priced because they’re so rare, or are they extremely costly to manufacture in the first place? In other words, do you think it’s possible for MOOG to do what they did with the Taurus 3 and make us this line of new Vocoders that we are wishing for ![]()
I remember following up and responding to that Toronto listing and similar ~ nothing ever came of any of them ![]()
All of the above, and the MOOG logo adds an extra zero to the price.
do you think it’s possible for MOOG to do what they did with the Taurus 3 and make us this line of new Vocoders that we are wishing for >

That market would be a lot smaller than the T3, even smaller than a polyphonic.
Vocoders are parts intensive, good ones can’t be made cheap.
If you think Moog Vocoders are high priced, check out a ‘creme de la creme’ Sennheiser VSM201 Vocoder next time one comes up for sale - 55 knobs, 69 LEDs, 34 jacks, 11 switches, and a partridge in a pear tree ![]()
I agree with MC. ![]()
Also, while an analog vocoder is much easier to make today given surface-mount parts and automated manufacturing, I just don’t see a large enough market.
Vocoders have never been huge sellers.
In my humble opinion, i think that if moog did make a vocoder in foogerstyle like say the murf with the freqbands ala roland svc vocoders and they would be priced round the 750 dollar more or less. I really think the would sell. you can buy the cheaper vocoders like tkorg one’s for like 200euro secondhand.
But i am a moog fan and like analog stuff a good old fooger analog vocoder would be way more attractive to me then the say the midi delay witch is not that much cheaper and there are more cheaper also good analog delays on the market. Not so for the vocoders.
Please don’t shoot me i can be wrong offcourse…
Just the way i think.
I find it hard to pay over 4k euro’s for a vocoder but still if moog make’s no mocoder im gonna pay someday ![]()
Well VOCODERS are polyphonic ~ so this would be covering BOTH markets ![]()
What about more affordable options other than the Sennheiser? I’ve never actually used one but I like the Roland SVC sound ~ would love to find one of them, if we’re sure MOOG isn’t going to make one ![]()
The Moog vocoder is also a Bode vocoder, and that contributes to its price.
I would love to find a Roland VP 330 myself~ but so far they too are either unavailable or have been priced astronomically ~ ANALOG, have you ~or has anyone else here played with any more affordable and available alternatives eg Rolands VP 550? anybody try putting a drum track thru one of those?
The old Roland SVC-350 isn’t all that bad either.
Ive had 2 korg vc10’s witch are here in europe between 750 and 1000€ i personally think there way to noisy, fun but waaaaaaay to noisy.
The cheapest option you have if you want to mess arround and witch i like is the eletrix warpfactory. Witch you should find onder 150€ here in europe.
Clean, takes any signal input and cheap
Not analog tough.
I’ve had the Electrix Vocoder for about 10 years. It’s an essential part of my kit. Collecting Electrix gear is as much fun as collecting Moogerfoogers…
Stephen
.
Isn’t that exactly the same as the VP-330 Vocoder section ?
thanks for the VOCODER tips, everybody!
there was a Roland SVC-350 rack version of the 330 on eBay at 1300 or so which would probably cost me closer to 17 with tax shipping customs etc
but instead, for about $600 canadian i bought the electrix warp factory vocoder AND roland’s new (digital) version of the old 330 keyboard vocoders called a VP-550, which itself has also now been discontinued and replaced with another keyboard a VP-770 i think?.
i saw Don Lewis using one of these new Rolands downstairs at NAMM - he has also some demos of it online - it is a real trip, very different take again that adds jazz gospel and humming choral vocal choir effects along with strings and a few robotic and pop style effects. the warp factory is quite useful as well great for drums and instant gratification with automatic results ~ will need to give both of these a lot more time to get familiar with them but I have been having a good time with both so far! for what it’s worth I have also got very interesting results putting vocals through most if not all of the Moogerfoogers ![]()
Thats cool man, would love to here some demo’s of the vp and foogers combo ![]()
Nice that you scored the warp factory with it best of both worlds.
Cheers

Here I am at NAMM behind Don Lewis ~ you can see Don is wearing a headset Mic, and his VP keyboard is just under his right hand at the left of the picture
the first track I have used it on is here in the backup vocals:

makes me sound a little like The Swingle Singers i think ![]()
on the most recent post ‘DIG, DIG, DIG’ my voice is recorded direct via Shure 58 through an MF 101 low-pass fooger
another older vocoder track is “Gem Speedo” which features Logic’s EVOC vocoder plug-in
