So, I ordered my very first Voyager on Friday, and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow . . . but Friday feels like months ago.
Time seems to be slowing at an exponential rate, hopefully tomorrow afternoon arrives before I go completely gray.
Don’t think I’ve been this excited since I lost my virginity.
I feel your pain. When I ordered mine, time stood still. Then, when I got it in, it was way out of tune, and in need of calibration, so off it went to Moog on the same day. Luckily, Moog turned it around really quickly since it was a new unit. Hopefully, you will fair better!
You’d think that after all this time, a calibration procedure would have been made freely available for the Voyager ? After all, it came out over ten years ago ! Not everyone is lucky enough to have his or her Voyager go out of tune so bad to need a recalibration, and still be under warranty…
You saw the film… there are something like 23 of those mini blue potentiometers on the analog board! Then again I may be making that up : )
Some of the newer Moog products are much better but like somebody said, it’s been out for a while and was designed LONG ago. The Oberheim SEM which is about 10x more simple has a ‘user’ procedure which is nice but for my Phatty and my Voyager Old School (I took it to Asheville last summer), it’s a trip to the mother ship.
yikes. Sure hope that’s not the case with mine, would hate to ship it right back out. I bought it used from some producer in SC, claimed it never left his studio and only had about 20-30 hours of playtime, supposedly. He said that everything was working perfectly and that he went crazy with the bubble-wrap when he packed it up. So, hopefully it all works out. I’ll let you all know how it turns out.
I know just how you feel. Everything is red-shifted and slow when you’re waiting on a major and significant purchase such as a Voyager. Enjoy it when it comes!
Yeah, but I will say it was no fault of Moog. I ordered a brand new one from Novamusik, and when it arrived it was clearly a display model. After a lot of back and forth from Nova, one call to Moog sorted it all out.
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! Nothing could have prepared me for this beast. I spent over six hours in front of my new baby last night, and the first thing I did this morning was switch it back on.
Ah, the joys of owning a new Moog. I remember how I felt coming home with my Old School. And I felt the same thing again when I got my Minimoog D (after I had spent a couple of days fixing it and brought it back to full health).
Congrats! And don’t forget to eat and sleep, just once in a while…
I didn’t get to choose my flavor . . . bought it used for a great deal, so the Performer Edition it is. It’s so beautiful already though, don’t know if I could handle it all lit up
If I could spend twice the money and choose my own finish and backlighting, either walnut or mahogany with indigo backlight and blue mod/pitch wheels.
