vx-351 and adapter

before I screw on the voyager, I want to check what’s on with the enclosed adapter for the vx-351.

1.) Can somebody explain, why a adapter must be built in the voyager?

2.) If I disconnect the vx-351 and the adapter is built in, do the voyager work as normal as no adapter is in?

  1. The adapter is a terminator. The VX-351 doesn’t work correctly without it. I don’t know why Moog doesn’t install the adapter at the factory. I can only guess that at the time the Voyager was designed and built, the VX-351 hadn’t yet been conceived, so the need for a terminator wasn’t envisioned. Later, the need for a terminator was realized when the VX-351 was designed. Since everyone who buys a Voyager doesn’t necessarily buy a VX-351, including a terminator with the '351 would seem to make sense. But it’s all just speculation on my part.

  2. With the adapter in place the Voyager works normally whether the VX-351 is connected or disconnected. I’d suggest that you make/break that connection with the Voyager powered off, however.

thx for the detailed answer.

what about the RME do you need one for that, and if you do does it work for both expanders or do you need to install 2?
