VX-351 Adjust Kbd CV Scale ??

Bought a new pedalboard for my non-Fooger pedals and that means one thing… Time to rearrange everything so I began by ripping apart every single keyboard, audio, midi and patch cable to reposition eveything.

But in doing so I found out that my VX351 is now too far from my Old School so I had to move it from the left to right side of the rackmount. In doing so, I stumbled upon something I don’t remember seeing. A potentiometer on the underside of the VX-351 labeled VR3 with notation that says “VR3 ADUSTS KBD CV SCALE”.

So my question is, how does this differ from the resistor on the analog board of the VOS (and Voyager for that matter). Certainly, some of the outputs on the 351 differ from those on the back of the VOS, for instance, the Noise source and LFOs run regardless of settings. Does this imply that the scale can be set differently between the Voyager “KB CV” and the 351’s “KBD CV”?

The thinking is that if I tweak this pot, can I avoid having to desolder and screw with the resistor inside the VOS. Ryan was good enough to mail me a mini pot with an inline resistor but I’ve yet to perform the surgery?

Thanks.

I THINK that this will make it where it will put out 1 V per octave as opposed to the fractional voltage that corresponds with the Voyager’s tracking.

I know nothing of this aspect of technical stuff though so Ill leave it for someone better suited to comment.

My understanding was the VOS sort-of piggy backed the CV/Gate outputs usually destined for the VX-351. Of course the other sockets are for CV INputs, the CV/Gate outs were added in production to push the “all analog controller” aspect.

Yes, you should be able to tune the CV scaling with the VX-351. I’m not sure what would happen if both CV outputs were used simultaneously though, perhaps some weird parallel resistances.
