VST3 in Reaper

Setup:
a MIDI track in Reaper which has a MIDI “send” to Sub 37 and receive from Sub 37.
the Sub 37 editor VST3 plugin is added to the track.
I successfully automated some parameters.

Issues:

  • I adjusted the editor’s MIDI ports, but the controller keybord input didn’t work.
  • when i open the editor, “something” is sent to the Sub 37, and the sound “goes weird”, some parameters change.

Question:
In my understanding, the editor as well as the sequencer communicate directly to the synth. Could the editor’s MIDI I/O be completely routed through the host?

I replaced the vst3 editor by the vst - could not reproduce the MIDI send issue.

Then i switched back to vst3 - could not reproduce, again.

The controller keyboard does not work in both.

Hi,

I am not in front of the computer right now but I tested the new version two days ago and it worked.

If I remember well try this:

In the I/O track in Reaper select your input keyboard and in the MIDI output select Sub 37 MIDI out.

I hope it helps. If not, let me know and I test it again.

Cheers

Do you have the moog USB driver installed in your system?

I can reproduce the following now (VST3):

  • When I open the editor FX window, the Sub 37 MIDI LED blinks, and then the sound is displayed with asterisks “*”, but I could not find out what changed.
  • When the editor window is open, and I load a preset using the synth, the synth’s MIDI LED blinks and asterisks appear.
  • The controller keyboard is not thru’ed, but i can record notes on the track (while nothing is sent to the synth). When I play back these recorded notes, the synth plays them.

Sub 37 is connected via USB.

Hi,

In the Editor Settings, try to set the KB CONTROLLER to NONE instead of your MIDI keyboard.

If you still have issues, close Reaper and delete the .prefs files and PresetCategories.xml in the Sub 37 folder, located at:

C:\Users*Your User*\AppData\Roaming\Moog Music Inc\Sub 37

Ensure you have the file Sub 37 MidiPortHandler(x64).exe in this folder too.

Restart Reaper again.

I hope it helps.

I noticed you are using the 0.9.37 version. Mine is 0.9.36.

Maybe that’s the problem

Thank you!

…what is “Sub 37 MidiPortHandler(x64).exe” ? Where can I get it?

They notify it in the beta forum.

Sometimes is like this.
Wish you good luck and hope you solve your problem.

Regards Luloop

Sub 37 MidiPortHandler(x64).exe is the driver.

Maybe you have it in the Sub37 folder instead of “Sub 37”.

Check the folders in: C:\Users*Your User*\AppData\Roaming\Moog Music Inc\

The new versions of the Editor work in the “Sub 37” folder (with the space in between).

Thanks for the info LuLoop

Will you be able to verify it works correctly for you also using 0.9.37 please ?

Midiporthandler is created automatically when the plugin is loaded.
