Hi… I’m SURE this must has been discussed before, I did tried searching not only on this forum but on Google, but I haven’t found a thread that address this specifically.
I haven’t owned a Model D but I have heard plenty of it and its clear for me that it sounds different to the Voyager, which I do own.
Can someone explain why the sound is different at its most basic level (no fancy modulation or anything like that applied, just the raw oscilators)?
I understand that with the Voyager they had to solve some old problems existing on the MiniMoog, like oscilator going out of tune, I would assume they are using different components (I’m an electronics illiterate) to fix that.
Basically it was impossible to built a stable MiniMoog without sacrificing that distinctive sound from the old models?
Where exactly is the difference, on the type of oscilators? Or are all the key components different (oscilators, filters, EGs, amplifiers, etc)?
I would love to know more about electronics and avoid asking this sort of questions!
Thanks for any info on this!
