ok, so i have an RME and LOVE it. but the other day i was in my local GC and played with the LP and man, was it great. i especially loved the overdrive/crunch-- it gave the sounds an awesome cutting and biting edge. is there a way to get this in the Voyager/RME? Am I missing something easy?

Have you tried inserting an overdrive or fuzz pedal pre-filter? I don’t have a Voyager, but I’d imagine it would bear similar results.
Or, plug a patch cord from one output to the external input. There’s an article on Moogspace (GregAE).
That article is called “Kicking It Up A Notch”. Find it here:

I use the external (mixer) input trick and it works well for some sounds. I also use a fuzz box and a freq box which both can be used to add grit and dirt.
Personally, I’ve had better success with ‘Metal’ (fuzz) pedals than OD’s in this application, but either one can be affective in the Voyager’s Mix Out loop or at the output. It depends on the sound you’re after.
The cool thing about the LP’s Overload parameter is that the parameter can be saved and is available for instant recall (no extra connections), whereas the Voyager has to be configured for this each and every time you want that sound. On the other hand, the LP doesn’t have the Voyager’s Mix Out loop, where any pedal or effects device can be employed to alter the sound.
… you could always use a soundsculpture device over MIDI… ![]()
Or perhaps just a simple A/B switch would do the trick (Morley, Whirwind, ART).

ever consider picking up a moogerfooger to run the mix/fil insert through? don’t sell your RME! ![]()
