Voyager right buttons problem

Dear All,
this is my first post; I am having a problem in my Voyager, which seems to be software-related, but I may be wrong. My OS version is 3.4.

The problem is the following: in the right part of the control panel there are 7 buttons, 5 for the mixer, 1 for filter mode and 1 for env. gate.
If all the buttons are pushed on their right tab (i.e., external, osc. 1 to 3 and noise all on, highpass/lowpass filter mode and external env. gate) the display starts flickering, displaying the Filter mode screen, and on the right channel I hear a clicking and distorted sound; I have the impression that the Voyager switches continously between the two filter modes, hence the right channel only clicking noise.

As I change the status of any of the buttons all goes back to normal.

I accidentally discovered it while processing a signal from the external input (mixer/external on and env. gate on/external) with some added noise and low frequency sounds from the oscillators.

I know this combination of buttons is not very usual to say the least, but it would be helpful for me to know if any of you experience the same behavior, to understand if this can be fixed with a future software update or if my Voyager needs to be repaired.
Thanks,

Roberto

I just tried turning on the switches as you did, but had no display problem. However, I was not processing an external sound. Was the external input particularly hot/overdriven/loud? Maybe that would do it?

Thanks for the answer; it also happens without anything connected to the external input.
As I push the last button the screen start looping continously between the current button value and the filter mode screen.

Wacky! Don’t know what to say… Oh, do you have the keyboard or the rack mount edition? I’m using an original Signature Series OS 3.4, but none of the upgrades installed…

I have a Voyager Keyboard S.N. 2530 with the latest hardware and OS 3.4.
The local Moog support (I am in Italy) is near my house, so probably I will bring it there to see what they think.

Buona Fortuna!

Ciao!

I would guess you have a hardware problem. A Software problem is very unlikely doing something like this. Remember, that the sound generation is done in the analog domain. And the controlling is only done digital.
And because all Voyager keyboards (without the OS of cause) are using the very same software. So it would happen to others too.

Yes, I initially tought it was a software problem because apparently the system was just switching very rapidly between the two filter modes, and the connection between the filter mode switch and the analog VCF function is done by the Voyager OS, since the switch position can be stored in a patch.
However, if I am the only one with this problem (and it seems so) it must be hardware related.

Thanks! A guitarist I played with years ago, and a great friend of mine, has is family from Capo d’Orlando, near Brolo. They are nice places.
Ciao,
