Voyager patches

I’m putting up patches on Squarewave group on Yahoo - Files → Voyager Patches → AnalogueDiehard

It started when some folks requested my saxophone patches - I’ve added stuff like Taurus Bass pedal, “Tom Sawyer” rezz, leads from Styx “Fooling Yourself”.

More to come…

Hello,

Didn’t get a chance to mess around with the patches yet, however, I notice that in the Tom Sawyer patch notes, you spoke of the difficulty in recreating the sound of the OB-X filter with the Vger.
Probably the most significant factor is that on the OTA filter that the
SEM and OBX synths have, the feedback is implemented so the filter doesn’t suffer the passband loss at high resonance that are present in other designs.
One method that I use to get a bit closer to this characteristic on the Vger is to use the filter feedback loop, and pot map the resonance ctrl to the
external in, on the mixer section. If matched carefully (maybe 50% mark) you can get a gain increase as you crank up the resonance.
A variation of this technique can be used by placing a modest external gain device in the filter feedback loop, pot map res to ext. in, then adjust the gain of said device in conjunction with ext in level and potmap precentage so that the extra feedback gain kicks in in the region where the passband loss normally occurs.

Thanks for your contributions, MC! Much appreciated!

Reminder to all contributors: Be sure to check the ‘notification’ checkbox when you upload your patches. That way, your upload will be posted as a message on SquareWave alerting others that new files are available and where they can be found.

Cheers!

Hello,

Quick correction on my earlier post:
The filter feedback loop is not the one being used in the filter resonance alteration. The mixer feedback loop is the actual one I’m using for the technique, same principle applies though; an additional feedback path is added in the mixer section and the resonance ctrl determines the amount thats routed thru the ext in amp. The levels (ext in amt and pot mapping percentage) should be matched so that as the resonance function is increased, the filter passband output remains as close to even as possible.

MC -

I appreciate you uploading your patches. Trouble is, most of them weren’t saved using ‘Send Panel Sound’, so they overwrite my patches when i try to load them (fortunately I have my own sounds backed up - others may not be so lucky). Also, after loading, I have to go hunting for them because they load back into their original locations. This is another reason to have them load to the Voyager’s Edit buffer instead.

Any chance you can fix this?

MF

Oh crap, sorry about that. I’ll get them updated…

Files are updated. Sorry for the mess.
