Hello,
The filter feedback loop, i.e, the Minimoog tip involves the external in AND the main volume control to set it’s
gain structure, because it’s send is taken after the vca on the synth.
The feedback loop that only requires the external in for it’s gain adjustment is the mixer feedback loop or “preamp mode”.
It only requires the external in because the send for this method is taken pre-filter.
You’re just sending the summed output of the mixer channels back thru the ext in gain stage.
Oscillator levels also figure into both methods.
Regards,
Lawrence
Just got my Voyager.
So I connect the right output to the ext in and connect left output to my system out in mono?
yep.
Then ext sw on and adjust the level and watch the LED. As it lites, you will start to hear the overdrive. Master or an expression pedal on vol will also affect the overall levels.
Wow, it really smashes the sound.
Makes me think dnb basslines right away.
Sounds strange, but I’ve been using a Hartke VXL Bass Attack pedal! It really sounds pretty good, and it isn’t a tone sucker! It does have one drawback in that it doesn’t have true bypass, as the three band EQ and the preamp remain in the circuit. However, to my ears it really doesn’t hurt the sound at all.
As in all things, YMMV. However, you might be pleasantly surprised! ![]()
