Voyager OS 3.5 upload sequence

Hi all,

I have the need to reload OS3.5 in my Voyager, but reading the notes from the Moog site I am a bit confused with the right sequence to load/send the banks. To me the sequence seems B - A - C. Voyager asks at the end of each bank to re-load D. Is that correct?

Thanks fellows!

Why create two identical threads on this subject ? One is enough.

If you downloaded the OS from the Moog website you should also have a pdf document explaining the exact procedure for this update: voyager_3_5_release_notes.pdf

Here is the main section in case you don’t have it:

Follow these steps to update the Voyager firmware:

  1. If not already connected, connect your computer interface MIDI Out to the Voyager’s MIDI
    In jack.
  2. Power up the Voyager and your computer, and confirm that the computer is sending MIDI
    data to the Voyager.
  3. Start the MIDI SysEx software program on your computer.
  4. Open or import the file “bank_b_350.syx” into your MIDI SysEx software program.
  5. On the Voyager go to Master Mode, cursor down to the ‘RECEIVE UPDATE’ menu and
press ENTER. The display screen will prompt: “This will delete the Operating System! Are
you sure? (Yes/No)”. Select ‘YES’ and press ENTER. The display screen will then prompt:
“Waiting for System Exclusive Data Transfer”.
  6. Send the file from your MIDI software to the Voyager. The Voyager will display the
progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the Voyager will Display: “The
Operating System must be re-loaded. Re-load bank D? Yes/No”. Select Yes.
  7. Open or import “bank_d_350.syx” in your MIDI software and send it to the Voyager. The
Voyager will display the progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the Voyager
    will reboot.
  8. Open or import “bank_a_350.syx” in your MIDI software. On the Voyager go to MASTER
Mode, cursor down to the ‘RECEIVE UPDATE’ menu and press ENTER. . The display screen
will prompt: “This will delete the Operating System! Are you sure? (Yes/No)”. Select ‘YES’
and press ENTER. The display screen will prompt: “Waiting for System Exclusive Data
    Transfer”.
  9. Send the bank a file from your MIDI software to the Voyager. The Voyager will display the
progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the display screen will prompt:
“The Operating System has to be reloaded. Re-load Bank C? (Yes/No)”.
  10. Open or import “bank_c_350.syx” into your MIDI software. On the Voyager, select ‘YES’
and press ENTER. The screen will prompt: Waiting for System Exclusive Data Transfer of
    Bank C”.
  11. Send the file from your MIDI software to the Voyager. The Voyager will display the
progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the display screen will prompt:
“The Operating System has to be reloaded. Re-load Bank D? (Yes/No)”.
  12. Open or import “bank_d_350.syx” into your MIDI software. On the Voyager, select ‘YES’
and press ENTER. The display screen will prompt: “Waiting for System Exclusive Data
    Transfer of Bank D”.
  13. Send the file from your MIDI software to the Voyager. The Voyager will display the
progress of the transfer. When the transfer is complete, the Voyager will reboot into PANEL
mode. And the firmware update is complete!

That is because this was the first post from miguelt. The moderator had to approve it and he probably didn’t realized why his question was not posted in the forum the first time.

It is also important to increase the size and number of buffers in MIDI-OX. The notes says: “The files are around 37KB in size. In Midiox make sure your SysEx output buffer size and number exceeds the size of these files.”

Setting the size to 1024 bytes and the number to 64 did work for me.
