Voyager gone blank... Help!

So I tried installing the newest os to my recently acquired voyager. I sent all the banks like it asked me but once it finished with bank d it went blank… The screen is completely blank and is blank even if I restart my machine. Is there a button press or something I can do to get back to the a former os or any way out of this? I’m sure I used the right sysex files. Thanks!

You sure the contrast is set right on the LCD screen?
I have Version 3.3, but here is how the contrast is changed in it:

Push panel
+1
Enter
Then mess with the +1 or -1 buttons

See if the contrast brings back your display. Otherwise it sounds like a call to Moog.

Nope didn’t seem to help. I think it’s a botched OS send (probably my bad). Do you know of a way to restore the factory default os? It seems like I’m able to navigate through the menus but I can’t see whats going on. Maybe if you were able to tell me the presses I need to do to get back to the OS send screen or the factory restore screen I might be able to get it back to normal.

Master
+1
enter
cursor
enter

Is that to start the new OS load or the factory restart? Still brings up nothing for me. Looks like I’m going to have to give Moog a call tomorrow.

OK, maybe this will help:
Switch the Voyager on
Press MASTER
Press 5 times the +1 button
Press ENTER
Press the +1 button
Press ENTER
Press CURSOR
Press ENTER

And have fun,
Rudi

This fixed it!

Make sure on MASTER page 5.1 the boot AND the system versions are 3.5.
Have fun,
Rudi

The boot version is 1.0, the other is indeed 3.5. How did that happen? How should I resolve this?

Sorry for all the questions, I just don’t want to brick a Voyager!

I figured it out. It wanted a couple more update banks so after sending it D and I believe A both are listed as being 3.5; horray!

The voyager I own is an old Performer; it survived a house fire and I’m trying to get it back up to snuff. So far so good!

Great to hear it’s up-to-date again…have fun tweaking dem knobs…

Ok, I’ve got the same problem but this didn’t fix mine. I’ve got just a green screen. Help!

Maybe your Voyager is in the boot system…
OK, try this:
after power on wait till the panel LED is on, then press ENTER.
Press MASTER and then ENTER.
Then press and hold the -1 button for ten seconds.
If it doesn’t help press the +1 button for ten seconds.
When it works check in the MASTER menu both software versions on page 5.1.
Good luck,
Rudi

OK, that worked but now it says waiting for sysex transfer of bank a. Well I did that and nothing is happening.

When your MIDI connection is OK (MIDI out from the computer to the MIDI in of the Voyager) there should be a bar graph on the Voyager’s display when you send the bank A (version 3.5).
If there’s no bar graph check the MIDI connections.
Rudi

NO bar graph.

What computer and what MIDI interface do you have?

I’m running a Vista PC with Midiox and Midisport 2x2.

Maybe I need to reload version 3.4 first? When I turn it on it says Version 3.3.

YEAH I got it back! I loaded 3.4 first and then loaded 3.5. That fixed it. THANKS FOR ALL YOU HELP BRO!!!
