While at Guitar Center today, I had a chance to fool around with an Electric Blue. The keyboard felt vastly different from my Signature series. So did the mod wheels. I couldn’t tell if the latest software updates were in it (or even the expanded memory bank) since some fool adjusted the contrast to all black. So I guess my question is: are there supposed to be any manufacturing differences amongst the various Voyagers besides wood and background color choices? Not that I felt the differences were any better; just different…

there are definitely manufacturing differences between the voyagers. for example, they have come up with a slew of upgrades since the initial release of the voyager such as the afterpressure mod, quiet backlighting mod, and of course the 3.0 mod with all the sound banks.
however, as far as i know though they didn’t really plan to make voyagers different between the series. it was just kinda like as they invented upgrades, the new voyagers came with them stock. i got the select series a few months ago and it came with the afterpressure mod, quiet backlight, and etc. i know moog offers upgrade services to older voyagers so it’s not like your signature series is obsolete by any means. you could have the same mods put in yours as i have in mine.
as far as the keys feeling flimsy…have you ever played a xbox or playstation in best buy??? people slam on those store demo items so i wouldn’t attribute it to the normal feel of a keyboard. i think FATAR makes keyboards for all the voyager line but i do not know for sure. i know my voyagers key action feel impresses me more everytime i play one of my other synths or store demos…
hope this helped.
I know what you mean RE: demo models. I really had sticker shock, though. Almost $3200! I paid $400 less for my Signature (brand new) through the Electronic Music Foundation. I just became a subscribing member (for a hundred bucks) and saved an extra couple hundred from the already low price: total price $2800
. Plus, you’re helping out a good cause by subscribing. I suppose I should send mine back to Moog for all the updates, but I never got around to it. Plus, the 4 year Signature warranty’s just expired…
