Voyager as Midi Controller problems

Okay, Ive never tried to use an instrument with a software synth before. I have the Edirol UM 1 and some of the different software that i have tried is with
Absynth
FL Studio 4
Moog Modular

In these programs Ill go to the Midi menu and It will reckognize my edirol but theres no Voyager there. On absynth, when it had a list of controllers, there was no voyager. just a few other default controllers and “Gereric Controller”. WHen I hit a key the midi light came on so I thought that I was transmitting and receiving midi data from the computer.

I have used the VCoyager to control another instrument via midi so I know that works.

I got no responce from any of the programs.

Can anyone help me or tell me what I could be needing to look for?

Eric

Maybe I get you wrong, but are you hopping that the name of the connected synth is transferred via Midi to some software?

If the Voyager is set to send out controllers (there are setting for this in a very improved way on the Voyager OS 3.4), just receive the date send on the right midi channel set in the Voyager for its output.
Everything else is setting these controllers to parameters of the software you use.

your softsynth input is configed for whatever midi port you have the voyager attached to. open the generic controller map and custom configure it to the corresponding midi cc/knobs etc…read your manual on specifics for your host application. there is most likely a “Midi Learn” function to simplify this process. Rename this map to Voyager or whatever. Best of Luck
