Hello! I recently bought a moog mg-1 realisitic synth from the ebay, and it has a volume problem on it. Everything on it works, but when its turned on, the output volume is VERY low, even when its turned all the way up. Does anybody know how to fix this? Or what part i should replace? other than that, this things roxxx!
Have you tried using the headphone output? I had about 4 of these synths over the years and they all had low output from the main outputs. The headphone output was always hotter and worked fine.
Hiya, thanks for the reponse. I tiried that method today, and still nothing. Now about 5 of the keys don’t work, the mixer channel i can’t hear (Possibly because of the volume), and the polyphony i can’t it to sound either…oi…better take it in to get it serviced now… *sad horn
Anyone have a list of the parts from the manual, or where i can get them from? I found this,

But my question is, is there another list of parts, or is that all of the componets in the mg-1?
about the first prob. aren’t you running the synth through an amp anyway that would make it sound loud?
Hello. Yes, i am running it through my amp, BUT when the volume is blasted to ten (Both the synth and amp), you can barely hear the sound out of it. I mean, it’s really REALLY faint, but the sound of the keys are still there.
Ok, I dunno about the amplification problems…but I know exactly what the broken 5 keys mean…
1 of your three MM5823 frequency divider chips is busted i’m pretty sure. My mg-1 arrived with about that many keys not working.
go in with a frequncy counter and test all the nodes on all three chips and find which one isn’t coming out right.
here is a picture you can use:

I think you can get the chips for 15 bucks a pop from:
here or here
I have one extra one left if you wanna buy it off me…
but i’m not quite sure If i’d rather just hold on to it…
best of luck
Thanks for the info! I’ll get on those broken keys right away ![]()
