Volume gate

Howdy folks. Pretty much totally un-Moog related but hey…

Here’s what I want: a box that functions as a volume gate. Set the level and it will open either above or below that level, with adjustable decay. That’s all. Maybe with a dry output too.

Does this exist? I know I can do this digitally but… yeah.

I’m imagining that this would be really cool in a modular set up (say to send only very loud parts to a ring mod or freq box, or to send only quiet bits to a delay, or both). Even MORE interesting would be a gate that could except audio AND/OR control voltages (imagine MF-101 envelope generator opening a gate to a freq box when the CV is high enough, or a cascading chain of weird tonal changes as volume/CV signals increase).

Does this exist? Okay, now my question is sort of Moog related.

Hey, that sounds like a compressor or probably more like an expander.

Here’s possibly the cheapest one you can get:

On sale, too!

Drawmer makes the only gates that are worth buying. They don’t suck up tone from your signal and the gates actually WORK.
