I got a Minimoog Voyager Old School about 2 months ago and it worked properly for the first 6 weeks. But then, one day and all of a sudden, when I switched it on, the volume envelope generator didn’t work and I haven’t found the cause yet. I can still set the sustain level (which has the same effect as the general volume knob) but changing the attack, decay and release settings doesn’t do anything. The Voyager OS just does not react. The filter envelope generator and everything else works perfectly, though. As I said, I didn’t put any strain on the Minimoog, it was always standing inside my room and wasn’t exposed to any heat, cold or moisture so I don’t have an idea what happened and why only the volume envelope broke. Can anyone help? Has anybody an idea what could be wrong and what I can do (beside from having it repaired by an expert)?
Just for kicks have you tried setting one of the Mod Busses controller to the vol. env?
Try this:
Mod Bus 1
Source: ON/MOD2
Destination: Filter
Controller: VOL ENV
Amount: Noon or higher
Set the cutoff, spacing & Res to Noon. Set Amount To Filter to off (noon). Set the Vol Env Attach + Decay to 3 o’clock, sustain to 0. Release to any.
Is it new or did you buy it used? If used, did the previous owner buy the extended warranty? If so you can have it transferred to you (the standard warranty is non-transferable unfortunately). Chances are it will need to be sent in for repair.
I tried your settings and - again - the volume envelope doesn’t have any impact, just the sustain works which, with your settings, works properly as cutoff but still there’s no attack, decay or release. I bought the OS at Armen’s Music Shop on ebay, so it’s brand new.
Ah, that’s good it’s new. Register it if you haven’t already and call moog. This sounds like an issue that needs some official servicing. I’d also suggest the extended warranty eventually.
