vinyl

I have a huge vinyl collection that I dip into very rarely. This is due to mostly convenience. My digital library is accessible via all of my devices from anywhere, so it makes it pretty easy. However… when I do pull out the vinyl the lights are down, the wine is out, the fire is on and it is going to be a good night.

I am a creative director by day and the other thing that I love about vinyl is the packaging and the tactile vibe. If I were going to release some tracks on vinyl I would spend a lot creative juice on the presentation and I recommend you do the same.

Design for timelessness. Make me not digitize you and throw you away.

I agree with most of the posters here. I still buy vinyl (especially if it is a cool color or something). The free download thing makes so much sense too. Tons of people don’t buy music anymore anyway. I would sell a record but offer free download. If someone at a show didn’t want to buy a record, I would sell them a T-shirt or sticker, and give the download. Maybe even sell them a thumb drive loaded with the music.

If your record looks or sounds cool, I’ll buy one.
