Here are the two videos I promised. They aren’t super informative, nor do they feature any crazy ripping/shredding on the Mini.. But they give a little insight into my Minimoog’s special features, as wells as my mini D (and Voyager) paired with the new MP201 Mulitpedal..
Hey, Nick! Great videos! At first, I was all, “What do I need one of THOSE for?” Now, I’m all, “Why don’t I have one of those?” and “Can I build one for less than half a grand?”
I’m just toying with you Nick.
Your financial situation isn’t much different than mine and I understand.
Wheel cost and availability?
I don’t know. All the wheels I’ve made have been done by hand.
I bought a laser to cut them out to sell, but it’s just under the power necessary for a clean cut.
So the labor is very high to do them manually and I don’t plan on doing any more that way.
Am I getting stuff done?
Yeah, but I’m refusing a lot more because of back problems.
I can’t lift many of these instruments any longer.
I’m very glad my wife is by my side to help out though.
But I could really use an apprentice.
Someone to learn this stuff and help, but this a complete fantasy considering the work and where I live.
I see more bears here than aspiring techs.
Man, I would give almost anything to be the apprentice of Kevin Lightner. Unfortunately, I seem to have made myself quite comfortable here in Illinois with a cushy, high-paying government job. But talk about a once in a lifetime experience!
I’d be extremely interested in a gig as your apprentice, Kevin –
all I get to play with are new Moogs…
Unforunately I’m kind of needed here… and I do love living in the mountain forests. If my situation changes drastically while you still have the strength to mentor someone, I’ll let you know.
I’ll be retired from Bell Canada in 54 months…looking for a new carreer…been a bench tech and keyboard hound for years. I’ll be in touch then Change of scenery would be good too…these Canadian winters are killin me these days lol
