After a great deal of help I’ve managed to save my presets using SysEx Librarian and I’m now ready to update from 3.3 to 3.5. Would anyone be able to provide step by step instructions for a rather nervous newbie?
Thanks Barrie
I recommend strongly to do a back up before the updates. You did this now.
And it is better to do one step a time when upgrading, because this is the way it was tested.
So first from 3.3 to 3.4
And then to 3.5
Will take you 5 mins more. But better then having a problem.
Please read the instructions of Moog on how to do the update. And follow it step by step!
And what computer do you use? What computer software? Without this there is no step by step instruction possible.
Hi Till, thank for taking the time to help. Do you know where I get version 3.4?

sorry, forgot to mention that I’m using a Mac running OS 10.6

You don’t need version 3.4 when you want to update from 3.3 to 3.5.
Have fun,
Rudi
I just updated my Electric Blue from 3.3 to 3.5. The load sequence described in the 3.5 Release Notes did not work. The sequence described in the 3.4 Release Notes (B,A, C,D) did the trick.
BTW, the update reset the LCD contrast on my machine. Also be sure to back up your presets before you start. You’ll have to reload them after the upgrade.
This is normal.
Also the chosen start-up screen is set back to the default value (the new logo, not the Bob Moog picture).
Thanks for your reply.
I wonder if you can advise on the step by step process of uodating using SysEx (I’ve saved my presets, although it seems to be one file rather than the separate banks that are often mentioned). I also wonder about this when uploading the new OS. B
You can read a step-by-step process in the Voyager OS 3.5 Release Notes : http://www.moogmusic.com/manuals/voyager_3_5_release_notes.pdf

one last question guys…
I had problems when using the Moog Librarian program (couldn’t get my voyager to send a bank but could if I did a preset at a time) so I switched to SysEx Librarian and managed to back up apparently without a problem. so far so good. Now I’m ready to upgrade thanks for the brilliant help I’ve received from everyone. One thing that makes me anxious is that I might get so far (beyond the deleting os question) and I’ll find that I can’t load the new system. Is this the end of the world (something that would make me very sad) or would the situation be retrievable?
Please excuse my anxiety but this is my first time (I’m sure this will adjust when I’m more experienced.
All the best
Barrie
As long as you update the Voyager in the right bank order (SysEx → Send Sysex File → B → (skip D) → A → C → D)…not much can go wrong… ![]()
Thanks
