Hi!
I’m posting here in the hopes that some of you might be interested in helping out with answering a couple of questions about a new music-controller we are making at Aalborg University, on the 4th semester of Medialogy. (Denmark).
We would like to hear what you think about a project we are currently working on, and if you have suggestions for changes or something you feel is missing (or if you think you can use it). Please note that it is currently on a very prototype-level of development.
Nice work! But the “chopping” pan in in the video made me a bit dizzy (I was wearing headphones). Maybe you could assign the first 3D controller to a filter instead?
First, I agree with the 1st comments here that the applications were not really strong on the demo. They were more irratiting to listen to than anything else.
Second, consider there are two products I can thing of (Eobody and I-Cube) that have a lot more options, I find myself wondering why there is an advantage here. Sure, youi can design you own interface but products like the Jazz Mutant Leumur also let you do that although albiet, at the pricey side of things. I am also sure that more touch screen applications will be coming out that will give you user designed control over interfaces.
or then there are always Buchla wands (i.e. lightening)
I would like to be more possible in my response but I simply don’t see that much that is really truely innovative here..
There is a lot of work being done with controllers right now. Both of the controller companies I mention have knobs and I would suspect that sliders would be easy as well. In fact, as long as the resistance range is right you can just plug them in from raw electronic components. I have done with with photocells myself into expression pedal imputs.
I know that there is the hub idea but as I said, there are a lot of ways to integrate controllers on a touch screen and I suspect that Reaktor as well offfers some options for that.
I don’t mean to discousrage your work at all but just letting you know what is out there.
