I really need to find a rock solid 2-tier stand. I’ve scoured the net & kinda like the Hercules Z-stand (I already have one for my mixer. What do you guys recommend? A small footprint I won’t easily trip over, adjustability, add-on capability etc.. but mainly just a heavy bastard!

I bought a heavy duty “Z” stand from Musicians Friend about 6 months ago. This thing is built like a tank and is designed to hold something like 550 pounds. It is not in the latest catalog but you could check online. I think it cost something like $99. My only complaint is that on the lowest two settings, the lowest is too low to get my knees under it when sitting at my studio office chair, and the next setting up is too high which caused some tendonitis problems in my creaky old wrists. Somebody with a good drill press can drill a set of holes in the middle of the two initial settings to give the unit a proper height.
Also picked up a “heavy duty two tier stand” (X style) from MF that is currently a steal for $49.00. I think that it holds something like 375 pounds. The fittings on this one are screwed in rather than welded, and I supplied my own lock washers, but this is the stand my LP is sitting on. I can’t remember if that stand is adjusted to the lowest or 2nd lowest adjustment point. At it’s current height, the X is JUST close enough to hold the span of a LP. If I lowered it any more, the LP would fall through.
I bought an Apex IKS-7 with 2nd tier total $91 CNDN fits my Akai MX-73 controller on 1st tier and the Phatty fits PERFECTLY (no wobble or play) on 2nd tier. cheers 
Hi- I have had an Ultimate Support single colum stand for many years. It packs up really tight, and carries easily. It has a three “foot” base, and is very stable. It has full height adjustment as well. I have my Voyager and my LP on it, and it just looks great.
You won’t be disappointed. They also have longer arms if you need them, like for the Voyager, wich is 18" deep.
