Hi Guys
First of all im a newbie, I have been reading the forum for a while but just got round to post.
I recently brought a moog voyager and am trying to program specific deep housey sounds with not alot of luck!
this guy → [http://www.myspace.com/DANBERKSON(http://www.myspace.com/DANBERKSON[url)]
uses one alot on his production and live, and I want to know if the tracks Alex jones - BED remix and keep on has used it for the delayed chord running all the way through the tune and most importantly how to create this type of sound.
If you can help get even close to this it would be a great start as im getting no where near
Thanks
Anybody, any help would be much appreciated
cheers
Start with an electric piano
Chorus it to death.
run it throug a LPF and add delay.
Sounds like that to me.
Gonna be hard to do live with a mono synth. Unless you use it for the filtering.
agreed on the ep route, I have found this video of him using the voyager live
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNHGM_gSitk
he starts to play bits at 2.00mins, but im now starting to thing that he is just using it as a midi controller for a vst?? and using the voyager itself for bass in certain tracks?
Thanks for the help so far
I think that’s a pretty sound theory. I use my Moog as a midi controller for my Virus and switch between the two with a mixer, sometimes even blending the two for adding texture.
He is clearly playing chords on the Voyager… and I’m hearing chords… so they cannot be generated by the Voyager itself. It’s a VST or some other synth controlled by the Voyager.
I mean, it really could be a poly-Voyager set-up, but I think we can all agree that a) it’s highly unlikely and b) it just doesn’t sound like it.
Your Voyager can make many AWESOME sounds… but that that housey chordy sound isn’t one of them

Hi
I saw Dan Berkson play along with James What, about half a year ago, and yes he was using a VST. From what I saw in his Mac (altough he was running Windows on it) he was using Ableton live and the Native Instruments Prophet Emulation plugin: Pro-53.
I tried it and it doesn’t sound bad at all, but haven’t come across many good patches either. You will have to build your own sound like a grown up man
On the other hand, the Voyager is capable of producing some great sounds that altough are not chord playable, they sound very deep and chordy. For example, in my 2005 Voyager there is a fabric preset called “Minor Glider”. I just love it. Its deep, rich and full.
Good luck! If you find another chordy sound please let me know! I’m in the quest for chords too!
