trying to duplicate motion city sound for my fav accident

i use a little phatty which i know he uses a mg1 anyone have any ideas on how to get the unique sound he gets ?

That sound is a relatively easy one to make. I ran across it once while messing about with a MicroMoog in the music store. Let me see what I can cook up.

thank you and i have the basic sound of it its just a little bit of a difference but i just cant seem to match it perfect

No, you won’t be able to perfectly match that sound. There are differences in the components of the old Moog synths that cause the sound to be different from the new ones. The best you can do is get it close, I’m afraid.

yeah but its just a certain thing ud have to hear on my lp cus its a little different but u can def tell the difference

The MG had it’s own set of harmonics. That’s all. The filter was different, oscillators were different, sliders instead of knobs, etc. The LP will never sound exactly like an MG-1, no matter how hard you try. Frustrating, I know.

Okay I will just say it. I hate motion city soundtrack.
We have them at least partially to thank for driving up the prices on what used to be the cheapest moog you could hope for. Now it’s roughly the same price as a Rogue.

I read a piece on them in some music rag last year. They went on about how their keyboardist had never played a moog before but started when he joined the band. they then go on to brag about ‘destroying’ at 4-5 MG-1’s on every tour. Replete with a pic of the talented young man doing a handstand on an MG1.
C’mon man! They only made these little synths for a few years, I think 79-81? Why doesnt somebody introduce them to a more current synth like the microkorg which nobody cares about.

What a jerk! Instead of destroying them and trying to act like a big man with money flush down the toilet (well flush the labels money anyway) he should just give me 4 of them a year  I like that idea! In acouple years ill sell them all but one and buy a voyager
