TRS Cables

Hi, I’m hoping someone can confirm or educate me on the 108M audio connections. I have two TRS cables (balanced) coming from my audio interface. I’m connecting them to the in / out on the 108M. In this configuration is the ring floating / disconnected? Or do I literally need to open up the connector and cut / disconnect the ring wire?

For anyone interested… I stuck a multi-meter on the 108M connections. The ring and sleeve appear to be connected.

To answer my own question I did need to cut the ring connection on the TRS cable so it wouldn’t short out the audio interface.
