from about 2 weeks ago now, I
- have to log in twice (the first time has no effect.)
- can’t click on “View posts since last visit” link (it now always returns zero results.)
any ideas???

I haven’t experienced this, but this seems to be a cookie expiration problem to me and has the common symptoms of one.
Try deleting your cookies from this site.
Also, if you are using Internet Explorer by any chance, try switching to Firefox as well… (you’ll be glad you did)
Same thing happens to me with Firefox.
Have you tried clearing your cookies?
yes, tried:
already using firefox, tried clearing cookies (no good)
attempt iexplore (no good)
cleared iexplore cookies (no good)
???
any other thoughts?
