Tribute Upgrade

No, the USB hardware is not included. We would need to make a new custom wood side panel and new metalwork in order to add USB to the Tribute Edition.

So, a Tribute Edition which has the factory upgrades and new OS will have absolutely everything a Stage II has except for USB and a Mod2 destination. The firmware functions will be the same.

I feel needed…thank you! As much as I would LOVE to work for Moog, I’m afraid that electronics are merely a hobby for me as I don’t have the skill nor credentials to work for them. Unless they want to start an employee health clinic and need a nurse.

I wouldn’t worry about that…my LP was in the standard road case offered on the Moog Music website and UPS managed to get it back to me fully funcional with the front panel about to fall off! Lucky for Amos, everything was 100%. Otherwise, it would have had to go BACK to Asheville…etc etc.

Very good news! And a very good deal  Thanks Moog team!

But I have a little question: the 75$ upgrade does imply there will be no EGR noise? If not I think I’ll wait for a whole stage II board with blue leds, in case it will exist some day.

Still thinking what to do… :unamused:

Anyway, thanks for taking care of us, Amos!

dagargo: The EGR noise is its own animal. There will be an EGR “Auto” mode which should be a more effective work-around so that you don’t hear this EGR noise. You will be able to try this new Auto mode yourself, even on a non-upgraded LPTE, as soon as the OS v1.04 for Tribute is released. This version will be the same as the current v1.03c with the addition of the EGR Auto mode.

I’ll post a link to the forum as soon as this version is released (next week, I hope).

Do we need a RGA to send the LPTE back for the 2.0 upgrade. Can the Pitch and Mod control be upgraded to the new style, if so can we get them with the blue back light?

this is a good news Amos !

but i’ve sent you 2 messages via your e-mail adress @ moog
ans i’ve no reply at all… is your spam control really set strong ?

Yes, yes, and Yes. :sunglasses: just e-mail me for more info, if you’d like to set it up.

haiku-ish: sorry I missed your mail; I have replied now.
The spam filtering is strong, but the Russian spam is stronger…

I’d love to be able to save the EGR mode per patch, or to have it “stick” as off unless I want it on. I have to go and turn it off every time I start my synth up now.

Great work Moog and Amos on this upgrade! I knew you’d come through for us out here!

LPTE #661 (5 less than the devil)

Great! is Prolyd in Norway aware of this? And can they do this for me? Thanks

i havent opened my LPTE up yet, but i am assuming all the aforementioned chips are surface mount and not through hole (or better yet, socketed). so is the memory upgrade a chip upgrade or can we just swap out a board?

the reason i ask is: if i can help it, i would rather not trust my synth in the hands of UPS (or USPS or FedEX or anybody but me!). I have built quite a bit of modular synth stuff and have lots of diy experience…but with through hole. just some surface mount stuff (that was messy). If the swap is not too bad, i would save the trip to moog.

but it looks like i will be sending it to them, with a prayer that the carrier doesnt kill my package.

last question:
if i send my synth to moog, can i keep the take off parts as spares?

Everything in the Little Phatty is surface mount. I had very good luck with using UPS shipping my LP in the road case sold on the website. Of course, I saved some money buying the case through Sam Ash. I would NOT attempt to switch ANYTHING out of the LP, no matter HOW experienced you are…unless you have all the tools Amos does. The ribbon cables that connect the two main boards are a real killer to get perfectly seated. I tried for 30 minutes and still couldn’t get it right! Do your LP a favor. Send it to Asheville to get updated.

Voltor7, all of the LP owner don’t live in the USA.

i live in the US…so more than likely, i will just shut up and ship it in for this upgrade.

Still would like to know about the take off parts and if i can keep them (like the old memory chip and such). at the very least to say i still have the original TE!

Ryan

Actually, that’s a good point, for some reason, don’t know which, but it feels like a good idea …

Yes, I am aware of that. But judging from the original message, I was able to figure out that lanxe does reside in the US. If you or another known international Mooger had asked for advise, I’d have said to go to a qualified local tech. Or more than likely, kept quiet and let Amos answer the post. Cheers, haiku-ish!

is it ok to install the OS2 of the stage edition into an upgraded Tribute phatty ?
or there will be a dedicated OS2 phatty ?

No you can not install the SE OS2 into your TE they are coding a new OS2 for the TE.

But you CAN install TE OS2 in the upgraded TE. I imagine you could install the regular OS2 in an upgraded TE, but then you’d lose a bunch of stuff that only affects the TE. Like the AUTO feature.

This sounds good, Amos…

Thanks a lot..

Looking forward to the new OS.
