Tribute piece for Bob Moog

This is something that appeared on the Yahoo Arturia Moog Modular forum. I rather liked the piece and I thought I’d post a link to it here.

It’s by Chris Strellis in Cambridge, UK, and it’s called The Release:

It’s the third tune down on www.voynich.co.uk

or can be downloaded at

http://www.adwright.net/chris/voynich/sounds/The_Release.mp3

6 mins 36 secs long, 15.1MB file size, 320kbit MP3.

Chris said on the other forum:

In tribute to the sad death of Bob Moog I have produced a track in
Bob’s honour written soley using the only Moog equipment I could
muster - which (unfortunately) is the Moog Modular and Minimoog
softsynths. Speech samples from a Moog demo disc and from the good
Dr. himself suppliment the raw (virtual) analogue power!

Bob will only truly die when we have all forgotten him - not likely -
he leaves a massive legacy!

This sound awesome !!! Great sounds, great composition, great mixing. And of course a pleasure to hear Bob’s voice.
A worthy tribute; and I bet Dr. MOOG would smile when he hears this track - wherever he may be now.

I made a kind of hommage for Bob MOOG too (but a very different kind): http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/showthread/threadid/124218 (scroll down a little for the URL of the .mp3). Not all MOOG (see the detailed description of the gear I used in that thread), but a lot of use of my Memorymoog.
I hope you’ll all like it.

Yes, this is a great piece of work, which inspired some music of my own on my home studio.

This was first posted on the AH discussion site and was well received. Very nice of you to share it with the Moog Forum.

It really is wonderful.

Thanks must go to Andrew/Sweep for posting my tribute track here and in the Moog Modular V Yahoo group

The track was made quite quickly using Arturia softsynths for both Moog Modular V and Minimoog whne inspiration hits you, you need to seize the opportunity.. It’s a crying shame Bob died.

Thanks for everyone’s kind comments.

Please visit www.strellis.com to get links for more tracks of mine in slightly different styles.

Analog officianados might enjoy my Yamaha CS-10 (yaa boo hiss not Moog!) only track SkyLab2000 on my www.voynich.co.uk website.

Cheers

Chris
