I just bought an Alesis IO Dock and I have successfully triggered the Animoog app from my midi controllers connected to Logic Pro. But can I play the Animoog on screen keyboard and record that midi into Logic? I read that CC support was coming, and this ability to record the onscreen keyboards midi output (and eventually continuous controllers) is a huge draw for me for using this app due to their expressiveness. Is it possible to send midi output from the iPad to a host sequencer via USB midi?
Also would it be better to use the wifi midi rather than the IO Docks USB midi? I use the Neytrink Ney-Fi app for DAW control but I think the IO Dock USB midi works fine with no noticeable latency and I purchased this because it charges the iPad while you use it unlike the other iPad midi interfaces (and the IO is a big bonus of course).
I read there is a tutorial on setting up wifi midi on the mac. Does anyone know where I can find that?
Meanwhile, I also use an IO Dock and I’m happy using its physical MIDI, either USB or DIN (or often both at once, USB to my DAW and DIN to some hardware synth..) I have had no luck with wifi MIDI on my iPad, it always says “connection refused” when I try to initiate a connection from my MacBook Pro. Strangely, I have no such problem creating a wifi MIDI session with my iPhone, where it works fine. I’ve Googled for answers but all I’ve found so far is other iPad users with the same problem as me, and no solution.
Anyone here had “connection refused” when trying to set up wifi MIDI on their iPad, and were you able to find a solution?
