Hi,
I have the voyager rack with both VX expanders, and am wondering is there a touch surface
available anywhere that would work for me? the vx-352 has plugs for it, and I’d like to use them ![]()
thanks,
David
The vx does not have touch screen plugs for the rack mount version.
perhaps I need to be more explicit.
The VX-352 has a set of inputs under the heading “touch”, that are located
between the “mult”, and “touch”.
the manual says that these plugs, labeled X, Y, A,and Gate go to control
what the touchscreen would control( I am assuming you could hook up those same outputs
from a voyager with touchscreen and vx-351 touch outputs to control the vx-352 equipped Rack-)
So,basically my question is, is there a touchscreen available anyplace that could
deliver those voltages ? Like, perhaps MOOG could do that? VXtouch unit ??? would be great !
but seriously, maybe there is a device like that already available?
thanks for any help!
David
the touch surface controls are not operable on the rackmount version. you can use these as modulation out as per the manual, but adding a touchscreen like a kaoss pad would not work through your VX.
I get what you’re Saying badsound. I was quite baffled by that myself (specially since I’m not a voyager owner so icant experiment with it) but I’m guessing its souly meant for chaining a voyager kb with rme. Although I’m sure you could plug any number of cv into x,y,a and gate and get some pretty interesting results ![]()
This question was asked before on this board, and had an interesting answer. There does not seem to be a currently available touch surface, but Bob did make them back in the Big Briar days. I found a few photos of them.

I found an answer from Amos in the archives about using such a device with the RME via a VX-352. Looks like the voltage inputs only work when there is a gate input present for the touch gate in?
Answer from Amos:
I’ve been saying for awhile that they need to make a touch surface Fooger for the Voyager Old School,RME, and phatty owners. Maybe it could be the long lost MF106.
I really wish that I had some idea as to how much a design might cost to implement, cause some of us love to mock up foogers and tell Moog about them. How does one figure design costs?
I cosign that. touch surfaces for all!!!
It would be pretty neat if they could have some sort of motion tracker like the kp3 and kaossillator pro
Can I send some midi message to trigger envelopes through touch gate, or using some other workaround for triggering envelopes on RME without note-ons?
Thanks
Don’t know what you have available but you could do some wild experimentation with just a CP-251.
Take the pulse out of the LFO and feed it to the gate in. Feed the S/H to X and mixer out To Y. Now the sound will trigger to the beat of the LFO and whatever X is assigned to will randomly change with the trigger and you can use the knobs of the mixer to change Y.
Now, think larger and use the Envelope follower out of a 101 to control X. and the LFO out of another pedal to sweep Y and the CP LFO or something else to GATE it.
Thank you,
Can I do something like this by sending midi data to the Voyager rme
Please just plug this into it, although I guess it’s just one gate+cv. Maybe some sort of modular joystick controller?
