I’d love to get this pedal. All of my friends would love to get this pedal.
I think I’ll be paying my mortgage instead.
I don’t mind paying $250 for a sweet pedal. But over $700 is not justifiable for a working musician.
I thought the MF-105 was steep at $450. But I guess some can justify the prices for the new MF-104Z given what the old used ones were fetching for used on eBay $1000+ I wonder what the MF 104-SD, if confirmed will cost?
When you say its not justifiable, do you mean Moog is not justified in charging that much or a working musician cannot justify spending that much?
As I see it, it is a collector’s item. It is not intended for the working musician. Moog can very much justify the price because are people who would pay over $729 for this pedal (not me. hee hee). The fact is that this pedal is going to sell out in a blink.
If the MSRP is $729, maybe the price from a dealer would be a little less? Maybe some will sit around like the special Voyagers that Big City Music had. It seems it will be a very worthwhile investment. If the original 104 was about $400 and they are selling from $1000 to $1600, then it seems logical that a “more” special edition 104Z may go for at least that much a year or so after they sell out. Hell, they may even go for as much as a RME. Who knows.

Maybe Moog would not have re-issued the pedal if not for those outrageous ebay prices.
Look, obviously Moog saw that there was a large demand for the delay. Moog is a company, any company that wants to succeed sells a product that fills a demand. I’m no economist, but this is basic people! 
I didn’t know that Mr Moog was making pedals for collectors as is stated here. I was under the impression that he was a working man building musical products for the working musician …if the new analog delays’ price is truly justified by the fact that they are selling for $1000 used on ebay , then this is truly sad . I for one would love to own one, but at that price I can pay for private school for my kids (2) for a whole month .
Where did you get that impression? Did Moog say that in an interview? Not many working musicians can afford a $3000 voyager either.
I would happily pay $729.00 for a quality product that I would use on a daily basis and also that I know up front will be of high quality. I have spent thousands of dollars on crap that wound up in the scrap heap. I personaly think it is expensive but not overly excessive. I can’t wait to get mine when they are available! Hell, for that matter, my wife just spent $500 on a pair of sunglasses…ouch…
Vagodus, my thoughts exactly. Also, this pedal has a longer delay time than the original, and like the original it will only increase in price once supplies run out.
i’d buy it. I already have an echoplex that works like a dream, but I like the idea of CV params on the delay…its gonna twist up my Voyager…
btw, if the MSRP is $729, it’ll prolly go for $699 or $649 or something like that…whch is still not cheap…
I see Moog music as being a sort of boutique for high-end afficionados…
Moog equipment…definitely NOT priced for the average working joe/jenny… you gotta really want their stuff…
I think the fact that their gear all comes with CV params is extremely unique and adds to the intrinsic value, simply because no one else does it, and its such an incredibly useful feature…

I’ve not used an expression pedal with an effect. I understand that it enables remote knob twiddling but is it something that would be very active like a wha usage or more of set and forget. I’m trying to visualize 3 expression pedals hooked to a 104…

I dont think the original 104 will go for as much money now that you can buy the 104Z with a longer delay time. Who in their right mind would pay $1000 for a used pedal when you can buy a better one new for $700?
Collectors who want a MF-104, MF-104Z, and MF-104SD on a shelf and to play a few times a year.
Not that i think it’s right but to each his own.
