I am going to put my foogers in a rack soon, and was wondering:
If I have 3 in the top rack space, would I still have easy access to the jacks if I put the other 3 directly underneath? I think that it would be a little to close for easy patching, and if so I will go with my original idea of two 12-space open frame racks with 3 foogers in the top of each and CP-251 and voyager expander underneath the foogers (this also gives the impression that you have more gear, which is always a plus )
You’re going to want at least a rack space between the two to even fit normal (non right-angle) 1/4" cables in. I’d suggest getting a patchbay to consolidate all of the CV i/o’s into, and a bigger patchbay to accomodate the size requirements.
Now only if Moog would implement my cp-251 enclosure idea, you could fit all of your foogers, including the cp and vx snugly into 2 6-spacers…
Wow, those drawing are a great idea! I think I will go for the two separate racks, foogers on top and a furman strip on/near the bottom of each. I don’t have a CP-251, VX-351, or the MIDI Murf yet, but once I get those I can have a complete fooger selection and then fill in the rest of the rack with more CP-251’s! I don’t want a patch bay because I am going to be using this as a super powerful portable processing (p cubed) rig, and I don’t want to have anything normalled or have to worry about soldering up a patch bay, and it will be easier for me to see exactly what is plugged in to what with a quick glance at the top of the rack. Now I just need to find a suitable place to put the racks. I currently have a two tier stand with my voyager on top and a peice of plywood on the bottom holding the foogers and a kaoss pad (which will be moved). The voyager can’t go on the bottom because the top tier rails block sight and access to those lovely moog knobs. Oh what lovely dilemmas all this gear brings
I was just think the other night how great it would be to have short little A frame rack to mount my foogers. Makes for easy patching and you can still kick them on and off
