tick when touching volume antenne, normal?

hallo,
i recently bought an etherwave sign edition.
really nice
just wonder : is it normal that when i touch the volume antenne it often produces a tick ( also dependend on the frequency of the tone , the sound of the click varies )
it’s not always , and the volume further act normal , meaning he goes quiet when distance is less then ca 3cm form the antenne.

I noticed that there was some clicking on the volume antenna. When I first got mine brand new it seemed to have no issues. But when I took the antennas off and put it in its case and reassembled it later I noticed the same noise on the Volume antenna.

I called Moog and they said that this was something that is really typical of theremins based on the nature of the circuitry and such.

It functions flawlessly otherwise.

Also, if you boost the signal with a pedal or something, hook it up to an amp with headphones and turn the phones up all the way. When in Zero beat, you will hear ghost tones. Be careful doing this though.

Eric

thank you, i noticed that the first 2 or three times i touch the antenne , no clicks apair , thereafter it does, must be something with loading/unloading or so ?
anyway glad to hear it’s normal
i love the instrument, weirdest thing i got , but it surely needs practising.
mystic vibrations, ghostbuster, it’s great

I don’t know if this will open any new info to you other than what ive already told you but here is an old thread about this…

If you think about it, you don’t really touch your theremin that much anyway, so a click shouldn’t be all that much of a problem. I think it is an intermittant thing anyway.

Glad I could be of help. Yes it does need an increadibly amount of practice. Now you should get a delay pedal and the CV Modification and youll really be in for fun times.

thanks, any info on this , for me new, instrument is always welcomed.
i bought the cv kit already , didn’t find time yet ( practising..) to build it in .
also i have another delay already ( maxon/ibanez ad230) .
on the moment however i’m practising with my guitar amp with a little reverb and the peterson-strobetuner aside to train keeping tuned notes, playing technics and scales.
that + my family keep me “from the street” as they say overhere ( keeps me busy ,in normal english |)

Good to hear Sunny…i seem to have the same kind of family…

Have a great time with your Theremin. :sunglasses:
