Theremin parts

Hey there, i bought a Theremin late last year and fell in love with it in an instant. What an instrument!

Used it to great success in band practice and then disaster struck. Some toerag broke into my car, stole my bag full of stuff and legged it. :frowning:

I lost a fair bit of stuff, mostly cables, but most importantly i lost the parts for my theremin! The power supply and the antenna.

That was a few weeks ago now, i managed to recover the pitch antenna after tracking his escape route down the local field and behind some housing, must’ve fallen out of the bag when he legged it. But now i’m left with a wooden box that does nothing at all, can’t really afford the price of a new power supply (over £50 in most places) as i’m but a student and i can’t find the antenna for sale anywhere. I can’t justify buying another theremin as it took a fair bit of saving money to buy this one!

I emailed moog when the incident happened, asking if they were available for sale, etc. Never had a reply. This post is what you call a last chance thing before the theremin is put up in the loft never to be re-used.

Any help?

About the antenna, you could try calling moog (828) 251-0090, I bet they will sell you a new one, or you could go to a building supply store and get some heavy, solid wire to bend into a new one. With a new antenna you likely will have to retune your theremin.

aye the problem with ringing up moog is i live in sunny ole England, probably cost me more to ring em up than it would be for the part. I did go out and get some nuts, olives and some copper pipe - bent it to shape and all that. Course what i didn’t realise was that we’re on the metric system and america uses imperial - the fittings on the theremin and just a smidge too small to fit 10mm copper pipe in.

I’ll try to email them again, shall troop on!
