every time I boot up the Voyager, it cheers me up to see the image of Bob Moog on the splash screen. It also gives me a second to pause, and acknowledge the great contributions to music technology he gave us
what a great idea, and homage to Bob
so thanks to Rudi, I believe, who came up with the idea to do that?
It was indeed Rudi’s idea to do an alternativ boot screen showing Bob Moog in late November 2005.
On the 28th of November the b/w (single bit colour depth) picture was sent to Rudi. Two days later I installed a first version with it into my Voyager to test it on the LCD. And it magically just looked right on the screen. It was pure luck (no graphic artist involved), some single pixel editing by a Voyager user and a labour of gratitude for Bob Moog.
The original picture is 128x64 pixel. The picture shown here is magnified copy of the original picture that is used in the Voyager.
Is the alternative to Bob Moog screen the Rudi Linhard screen? That is correct that each Voyager has an option to two screens right? Mine has Rudi Linhard as one and Bob Moog as the other.
I got one showing something like “minimoog Voyager” and not a person’s face. This is the standard one.
And the other one (an alternative one) is showing Bob Moog.
All software of the Voyager was coded by Rudi Linhard. So he included these graphics to the code.
The Bob Moog picture was my contribution.
I don’t know who did the graphics of the standard one.
