The Time Has Come....

It looks like I will finally be able to get a Voyager in the next few weeks. My questions for the fellow Moog aficionado’s are:

Other than the obvious aesthetic value of the “Select” series, are there any more benefits?
Considering I only plan on owning one Voyager, I really like the classic “Moog” look of the basic performer edition. It looks like a Minimoog, where as the others tend to be a little too flashy for my personal tastes, which leads to the second question:
Do the lighted panels on the “Select” series actually help with performing live?
It doesn’t seem like it would make too much of a difference, but it seems that it’s there for function as well as looking pretty.

I’m kind of going a little crazy with all of the different variations out there at the moment, which leads me back to the basic “performer” every time. The second contender would probably be Nova Musik’s "Black/Fire Voyager… That thing looks beastly!

Thanks ahead of time for your input.

Happy news that you will soon have a Voyager ! I bought my PE model with the gooseneck lamp, long before there were so many options. I seem to recall having read posts here that the backlighting effect cannot last forever, especially at high brightness levels. It looks great, but I am all for a simple solution. No regrets, and cannot justify the extra cost.

Enjoy !

The backlighting is only supposed to last 1000 hours at full brightness. Also, where the lights are, there are indentations in the panel that can bubble out. I haven’t had any problems with this but If I saw both side by side in the store, I might have gone for the PE. On the PE that I had several yeas ago, I paid for he lit wheels and they were really very bright in the eyeballs, but they are frosted now and have tamed this.

I don’t turn my lights on unless I need them, and if it is any consolation to you, I paid 2999 for the select voyager/vx351 from novamusik.com.
