Have anyone here tyred putting a voyager on top of a rhodes mk1 with rounded top? If so is it safe and stable or do you have any tips for making it more stable. I own a rhodes mk1 and I´m very interested in buying a voyager.
Used to own a Rhodes with the rounded top and was never comfortable putting any others keys on it. Do you have the hard cover for the Rhodes? What I did was have someone saw off the cover just over the keys. They added hinges and extra clamps on the sides so I could still put it back on to cover everything securely. Only had to remove the sawed off part over the keys to play the rhodes. Rest of cover stayed on and provided a flat and much more stable surface for adding additiional keys on top.
Hope this makes sense. Was a mod well worth doing.
Back in the mid-late 70’s, I used to put a MiniMoog on top of a Rhodes Stage MK I regularly in my studio without any problems, but for gigs I preferred a separate stand.
I put no-slip shelf liner on top of my Rhodes mkI so my Voyager won’t slip. This stuff:

Its solid as a rock. I’m not worried about the Voyager going anywhere, and I live in a place with earthquakes!
You could always buy a flat top from Speakeasy Vintage Music if you were still concerned.
I’ve got a MK I suitcase rhodes with the rounded top and the voyager sits on it ok but for live I wouldn’t do it. However, longer keyboards, my roland juno 6 specifically, sit very securely on the rhodes rounded top. Just don’t put anything too heavy on that top. My clavinet on top of the rhodes caused my bass notes to crap out because of all the pressure on the top…not good.
