the minimoog voyager and my original music

I have been playing keyboards and writing music for 4 years now and I have always loved the sound of an electric guitar, but guitar is hard for me to play because i am in a wheelchair. I spent years trying different keyboards to try and get a guitar like sound, but none of the guitar sounds on any other keyboard I played sounded like an actual electric guitar. Then i saw a video of Keith Emerson playing his minimoog synthesizer and in the video he played the moog solo from the Emerson Lake and Palmer song Lucky Man and it really sounded like a guitar.

My minimoog voyager is going to be the main keyboard I use for my original music and live shows and I am not sure if there are any modern bands who use the minimoog as their main keyboard, So I am looking forward to using my minimoog for live shows!

Oh, man get a clavinet. It’s like having a guitar in your right hand and a rickenbacker bass in the left. I have a clav with mf filter and delay and I can get ordinary guitar sounds to electric harp sounds to polyphonic synth sounds on it. I have a model d as well and can get decent solo guitar sounds, but the clav is where its at for guitar textures. And now there are a couple companies hot rodding them, and they even brought back the castlebar (huge whammy bar) mod.

The ‘guitar’ throughout this piece is Minimoog Voyager.

Sounds like a guitar. Maybe a bit Gilmourish even at times. If run through stompboxes or plugins it could sound even more so. You could use guitar too right?

Nice sounds though!!

Well, I can’t play guitar, so the MMV was the only choice. The only processing on that signal was some Roland reverb. And not much of that.
You’ve given me the idea to route the track out to a guitar amp to see what I can do with it. Could be fun.

I’m sure you can’t go wrong. I know this is like apples and oranges, but a good friend of mine plays his Roland Juno 6 through a Mesa Road King. AMAZING live and recorded. Post results please!

Guy Babylon used to do some wicked “guitar” parts with a Castlebar-modded Clav.

Example here at 1:30…

Can you remove the arms from the wheelchair?
