The MF-105 is my favorite fooger. I wanted to explore what I had overlooked and I was reading about the tap/step jack and FS-1 footswitch (normally closed) to set tap tempo. Bummer I don’t have one. Reading some more, the plug inserted so the tip is aligned with the ring of the jack stops and advance pattern step by step. Two passive controls on a single jack.
Now that’s a small project I can do with only spare parts. So simple : two normally closed switches attached to each the ring and tip of a TRS jack. A small bracket to fit on my fooger rack. I wanted initially to mod the MF-105, or at least attach the switches to it, but that’s more fitting work to do. The bracket solution would allow to use this double switch harness elsewhere too. With only the tip, the harness is just like an FS-1.
The red button is tap/tempo, the black step advance, at the reach of my thumb, for very little indeed. I don’t use my foogers much on the floor anyway
Wow that’s awesome! Today I was just debating how I was going to incorporate the tap/step jack into my patch bay for my Fooger rack (which is in the planning stages). This seems way better than any idea I’ve come up with so far. Nice job!

Very nice. You can sell those. Not sure how many step adapters have been sold but add a pair of input jacks above the text so a conventional footswitch or gate in my be used also (without messing with unplugging) and you’ve got something that every Murf owner can use. Sell for $40 or $50 on an otherwise blank 1ru rack panel.
How did you make the label/plate? Shopbot with a laser or low cost hobby engraver? In any case it looks really nice.
Yeah-- agreed. This looks like a cool project. If you ever are able to produce enough of these to sell, I’d likely be interested. A rack option makes lots of sense for those with racks. For me, though-- I’d probably enclose it in something and have it sit next to the MuRF. Hmmm-- I wonder if Moog could offer this as an upgrade option. That would be cool.
Nahhhh, I don’t think so, but I encourage duplication
The printout on the bracket is printed glossy photo-paper. I usually print these kind things on white stock with a clear sheet on top, but the white of glossy paper is whiter, so I used that for a change.
I was satisfied with the first bracket, but as soon as it was installed, I envisioned using the space below the top shelf for a custom made patch bay with a few mults and switches. So I decided to cut two small aluminum brackets and fix them right on top of the MF-105 using only the two top phillips screws of the unit, as per my original plans. Here’s the result.
I was just curious, do you have to unplug and replug your TRS cable after power up to get these tap & sync buttons to work? With my Murf, I can’t get it to work with a tap tempo switch unless I plug my TRS cable post power up. If I leave it in and power up, it won’t work…
