In the recently released “Make My Music”, legendary engineer/producer Bruce Swedien features an interview with Bob Moog. The interview took place in Gotherburg, Sweden, in 1996, when Bob was still making products under the ‘Big Briar’ name. Bruce explains the inclusion of the interview in his book:
"Over the years I have met and worked with a handful of people who I consider my musical and technical heroes. Some are purely musical gurus; some are totally technical mahatmas.
I though it would be interesting if I interviewed two individuals who fit into both he musical and technical groups. Few folks are both. Robert Moog and Roger Linn are two guys I look up to and admire very much…"
The Moog interview, though dated, covers theremins, the quality of modular sound, a bit of Bob’s childhood, product development philosophies and more.
The book also has a great picture of a smiling Bob Moog in 1970, leaning over a modular system from the back, elbows on top of the cabinet (I’ve never seen this picture published elsewhere - possibly a personal photo taken by Bruce).
BTW, the book really is a fascinating read, and not just for the Moog interview.
