The Global Synthesizer Project

The Global Synthesizer Project

… a new exciting Moog device ???

Looks like a fan mock-up to me.

Nice Compass, reminds us of the RCA TV Rotatory antenna’s… Sherman, start the way back machine, the year,1957 …

We need your help to populate > the custom Moog-designed-and-built synth modules > with a unique archive of world sounds. The Global Synthesizer Project is asking audio adventurers and sonic scouts from across the globe to contribute local sounds from their regions…

It’s legit. Looks like an interesting project too.

I don’t get it. Is it a box, a bunch of boxes, software, hardware? I get the sampling - that’s obvious, but what’s for sale, if it’s even a product at all yet?

The advertising pitch makes it sound like it’s ‘modular’ hardware (sample player) but I seriously doubt the logistics of that. It’s most likely a software implementation (probably an App). That would have a greater market reach than hardware would and would make much more sense. It seems very interesting to me, as a concept anyway. My guess is that it’s marketing people picking up on the ‘modular’ thing, but not understanding the same thing as we do.

Ok, took a Midi out from the XL, attached it to the roof antenna dish, pointed the dish towards Nebula, suddenly we started picking this up from Ceti Alpha V… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh2-P8hG5-E

That’s the forbidden planet sound track

Ah, that explains the huge weird footprints in our back yard …

Folks, this is real hardware:

From another post apparently it’s just the art project and not slated for general release.

More to come as Moogfest starts!
