If the Taurus III’s are hz/octave, will we be able to get polyphony out of it and get proper tracking using the Voyager with Midi or CV?

Amos, are you getting my drift? imho, a big part of the original Taurus sound was the very slight oscillator drift (& the resulting huge chorused sound) that you could achieve by fine tuning the “beat” knob - please tell me you guys remembered to put this important piece of mojo/juju in the T-3s.

btw - its SO cool that you guys are starting audio testing.

Also need to know if the unit is 120/230V 50/60Hz switchable like the original - would be great to use this in the UK without a power transformer - now that’s pro gear.

I think I remember reading something aboutthe Taurus having a unique effect where when the Oscs BEAT theres little to no phase cancellation. Meaning that theres no loss of sound when the beat freq cycles around.

Don’t know why but thats what I remember reading.

I’m intrigued by what you wrote. If you can remember where you read that (or the technical explanation for it), I’d love to hear about it. I’ll admit I’m skeptical.

The other element of the bigness of Taurus I pedals is that the filter is driven pretty hard. If you scope the output you can see the distortion in the waveshape. This changes the timbre to the point that the fundamental is emphasized. This also introduces a compression effect via overdriving the filter. This is why Taurus I pedals do not suffer from phase cancellation of dual detuned VCOs as the timbre animation cycles around.
The “Taurus” preset doesn’t suffer from phase cancellation of dual detuned VCOs, which led to the myth that the Taurus pedals contain some kind of compression - not true, say the schematics. What the schematics DO reveal is that the mix level of the VCOs are not equal on the “taurus” preset - if you turn down the level of one of the VCOs, the phase cancellation is minimized while you can still hear the timbre animation. This is a trick I have been using on the Source since I bought it back in 1985.

I was in the library when I saw Amos’s post. I then went to look at the twitter update and it said

“With the Moog guitar and Moogerfoogers, theres some interesting background music today”

Then there was another one that said something about their Moog Event with someone @ sweetwater on pr 27th at NAMM.

So i am guessing that they will unveil it. It will be a long time until july, even longer until december when they are supposed to deliver. I say take all the time you need to perfect it, Im in no hurry, I just want to see what it looks like though.
