Amos, any word on the firmware update for the T-3? Maybe before the end of March? Thanks.
Errr…the thing just released… ![]()
Let them at least ship al orders first.
What I’m wondering is if the units shipped after a certain date will have the firmware already updated…
Amos stated recently that the 1st firmware revision would be coming within a month or so, so I’m hoping he’ll chime in & give us an update. This shouldn’t affect shipping, and would only improve existing as well as unshipped units. I’m already gigging with mine, so forgive me for being a bit anxious to get things like the octave footswitch function and “hold patch change until next triggered note” updates loaded up into mine.
nearly finished with a new version now… probably have it done tomorrow. If I get the bits I’m working on now finished early enough, I’ll see about the things you mentioned.
“hold patch change until next triggered note” was never in the original spec, though, so I’ll have to talk it over with the other engineers before promising anything. There might be situations in which this would be a bad thing. For instance you couldn’t just hold down a note and scroll through the patches listening to the sound change, which is something I personally like to do.
And if we made it a configurable menu option, that’s a much bigger change and not something to be added without careful consideration.
Anyway, work’s coming along… update very soon. Probably this week or possibly after the weekend. I’ll keep everyone posted!

edit: I thought of a specific way to do the “hold patch change until next note on” that might do the trick, without causing problems for any existing modes of operation. I’ll have to tinker with it for a bit.
Yeah, I like being able to hold down a note and scroll through the patches…
When I’m playing around in the living room or studio, I like to scroll through patches as well, but when I play them live, we have quite a few songs where I switch patches several times throughout the song, and it can be a real pain having to hold patch changes until the very last second, or worse yet, have your audience hear the unintended notes caused from switching patches before the last note has decayed. While I will eventually do some recording with them, I bought my Taurus for live use - whole raison d’etre for the Taurus in the first place - so this feature is an important one for me. Hopefully Amos can come up with a clever solution which solves my dilemma without causing any frustration for others, as I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants (or will eventually want) this feature. If not, I’ll learn to live with it, because the sound coming out of this monster puts my old “digital taurus” setup to shame.
Great news - I got the patch change thing working perfectly.
Now if you have a note with a long release that is still sounding after you release the pedal, you can change presets and the sound of your note will not change until you press the next note. The new note will instantly take the sound of the new preset.
Nothing else is changed; you can still hold down a note and scroll through presets and the sound changes instantly. The only change is to the case where you’ve released the pedal and a decaying note is still playing.
I also fixed the Octave footswitch to be just like the Taurus 1. If you are holding down a note while you hit the Octave switch, you hear the octave change instantly. If you play a long decaying note that is still sounding after you release the pedal, you can press the Octave switch and the decaying note is not affected… the octave jump starts with the next played note.
Thanks superd for the patch change suggestion; it works great and I wish I’d thought of it myself. ![]()

I wouldn’t trust what this guy says, it sounds like it is Amos’ evil twin! ![]()
No Amos, Thank You - you just made my day! Superb customer service like this is one of the reasons why I play Moog, and one of the reasons why Moog is doing well in less-than-perfect economical times. Last year, I purchased a Rickenbacker 4004Cii bass, and during the time it was on lay-away, it developed a fatal neck warp. Ben Hall at Rickenbacker took care of me in a big way by building for me the first-ever 4004Cii with a 2-piece flamed maple neck (the 2nd one being built for Ric CEO himself, Mr. John Hall). Your response to my request has made me as happy as the day I recieved that killer bass, and is proof-positive that there are still companies out there that truly value their customers. Thank you very much!
Awesome!
Where do I find the latest firmware updates?
Amos said he would be giving it a thorough test today, and that it should be available soon - maybe by the end of the month or even the end of the week. When its ready, it will be under a tab called “software” on the Taurus product page.
superd2112, thanks! I’ll be looking daily.
I hope that firmware updtes will be available for Mac too. I mean, Im sure they will be but as Im making the switch this week to a Mac I want to be aware if I need to use my PC for firmware updates. I remember some folks having issues with mac and voyager updates.
Eric
No issue here with voyager updates on a Macbook Pro. Sysex Librarian is really easy to use. Good luck with your new computer Eric, and be sure to pick up a copy of Logic!
How about you bootleg a copy of it for me hahaha. My 400 bucks is going towards a Murf.
Well if you ever want to get into the world of digital audio recording, Logic is the best choice for a musician. The included instruments are really awesome, and if you ever think you are good at synthesis, just load up Sculpture (Logic’s insane physical modeling synth). What Mac are you getting?
How’s it coming?
update - Looks like I might have released v1.1 a little early. More info soon. Thanks for your patience.
