Taurus 3 Project Update

First, thanks to all of you who have placed your faith in us with your many orders for this exceptional and historical product. Here’s where we are and what you can expect.

All the mechanical has been completed. We are waiting final qualification samples and then we will be ready to release the production order for sheet metal, extrusions, pedal board, wood, push buttons, foot wheels, and the various other mechanical components that make up the Taurus 3.

All the PCB’s have been designed; the sound engine, the controller board, the user interface, the Input/Output board, the footwheel sensor boards, and various other smaller boards that make the Taurus 3 work. The sound engine is really incredible. It delivers on all levels and I am sure that you will all be amazed and delighted.

We expect this all to come together in December and we will START shipping then. Shipments will be made to those customers who helped launch the product with their deposits late last year. It will take time to work through the 600+ orders we have. So please be patient. We expect to be able to produce a small quantity in December and ramp-up from there. If you order was toward the backend of our initial offer you will not see your units until first quarter of next year. Please be patient with us. Each one is hand-built and thoroughly tested and that takes time.

As for the many who have questioned, ‘what’s it look like?’ We will release pictures when we are ready to ship.

Ok, thanks again for your faith and your patience. We are close but it will be worth the wait.

President, Moog Music

Pretty cool huh?

I’m excited - can’t wait for the pics, and of course, my Taurus 3!!!

Doh

You know whats going to really suck? Seeing the people in December get theirs and playing with it while I wait for the first quarter of next year because I ordered mine on the last day.

I ordered mine on FRIDAY at like 3:30 central time (they were almost closed for the weekend) and the price was set to go up to full price on Monday.

I was lucky to get my order in then.

It WILL be worth the wait.

Eric

o-m-g fellas! we’re getting close to showtime, aren’t we?

i have read this update a handful of times and wow and i am grinning from ear to ear. lets look at the facts (and salivate), some new and some old, shall we:

  • wood (is mentioned in the 2nd paragraph - ahhhh)
  • foot wheels (sounds like they are taking it all the way)
  • the user interface (i like the use of “interface”)
  • the Input/Output board (not just the mono 1/4" output! )
  • The sound engine is really incredible. It delivers on all levels… (fingers crossed)
  • in December and we will START shipping then. (hellz yes)
  • Each one is hand-built and thoroughly tested (then I hope they do indeed take their time and do 'em right!, I can happily wait!)

    this is great news!!!

So they have less than 700 orders? Interesting.

What are extrusions?

It sounds like they are going to be pretty busy this Christmas. It seems like its just a matter of mass assembly once all the parts come in.

Lets tryt to figure out how it will be.

Think about the original T1. It had 4 push buttons for the presets, and the interface was for the VAR preset. Perhaps, the push buttons will let us choose the bank and the preset, so we could change presets in realtime live. Maybe a push button for octave switching. or Arp on/off.

would the extrusions be the sidebars that bracket the foot pedals???

Can’t wait to compare 'em to my T1s through my PA system

Extrusions…the aluminum back plate, maybe? Like on the LP? I do like the WOOD part of the second paragraph.

Don’t say anything about particle board wood laminate (like on the Micro).

Eric

I don’t have to…you already did!

Looks like there will be more of these than the old schools.

Anybody who pre-ordered get the email today? Gee, I don’t know about sending CC info this way…

It does seem a bit strange, but at least they are nearly ready (and on time!)

i will be mailing my info via USPS. never send anything like this via email - ever. i’m really shocked that they asked for this info in this manner.

EDIT: scratch that, I faxed today.

Agree. This is not how the deposits went down, if they had I might have passed.
Don’t know how I’m gonna handle this.

The email doesn’t say we can send in the form, but I’d much rather do it that way.

That would be the only way to use the signature block. I’m hoping Moog sees the error of their ways on this one. Sending CC info via e-mail is a non-starter here, especially since they have that info already. Just weird.

Hey, they mention about making us immortal. That is gonna really piss-off the people that have been waiting for me to kick.

hey all,

I think whoever suggested emailing any payment info to Moog was just not thinking – I mean, never do this. However, if you email saying yes you’d like to order, we have a printable CC payment form we can email to you for you to FAX back to us. Or, of course you can send us your info thru the mail. Just confirm your interest via email and leave the payment info for more secure channels. This should have been made more clear in the communication from Moog.

Edit: It sounds like perhaps the email from Moog was in fact printable and faxable? I haven’t seen it; I’m just reading the info in this thread. Anyway, my apology for the communication error on our part.

Yeah, there’s a printable document.

In my excitement i sent it back, then now read this thread. i’m wondering if i should cancel my credit card and get a new one?
