System 35 CP question...

Hi Folks,

I was browsing through the Modular service manual last night and I noticed something that had me a little confused…!

Figure 5: the System 35 Console Panel - it has four sockets which seem to carry the +12/-6 volts from the power supply..!?

I’ve never seen this done before, not on any of the other Console Panels from any of the other systems.

What is the point of it?

I would have though it a little dangerous plugging into there and maybe getting a lead dangling and the ‘tip’ possibly shorting against the case - which is in fact “ground”…???

Any opinions or thoughts on this…?

Hello Tom. I don’t know exactly what those outputs were used for, but they look to be both equipped with pull-up resistors to prevent damage in case of shorting them to ground…
