Hi - I seem to have lost negative modulation capability on bus 2 for the filter amount and for the programmable destination (Mod 2 amount)
the pitch amount is working fine on mod bus 2 as is everything on mod bus 1. It’s as if the control for those two pots now goes from 0% at fully counterclockwise to 100% at noon and then there’s no change between noon and fully clockwise.
I’ve tried troubleshooting on all sorts of patches and using the initialize preset, powering down and building the sound from scratch and in all cases these two functions behave the same way
am I missing something or is there a re-initialize/calibration procedure I need to do to get those knobs to recognize their positions correctly?
firing it up again this morning after numerous restarts and restoring the initial settings before giving up on it last night it now has some negative modulation available again however the ‘zero’ modulation point for those two knobs is not the detente at noon, but a carefully balanced point somewhere around 10 O Clock on the knob… I can park it by ear but ultimately need to find a way to ‘remind’ the knob that the detente is ‘0’
Also, I literally got my barely out of warranty sub phatty back from the local service centre yesterday morning after 7 weeks and a $167 bill for a single switch so I’m not the slightest bit enthusiastic about the prospect of having to get my 37 repaired even under warranty.
Hi Stew,
Hmmm this sounds like a setting and not a pot issue to me..
Not sure if you haven’t already checked, but is the modwheel or aftertouch also 0% or +100% on the controller page of Mod2 and do you have the modwheel fully open?
I read somewhere that all modulations are multiplied (not added) in the Sub37, so if you sent to much ‘positive’ controller information to mod 2 it might be unable to go into ‘negative’. Not sure if this correct, but you could have a try..
thanks for the reply - all 4 controller options on the Mod 2 control page are set to ‘off’
I’m certainly hoping it’s a setting issue though… maybe something deeper that I’m not even aware of?
also, I’ve now observed that the point at which I can achieve neither positive nor negative modulation is drifting - I left it untouched carefully dialled for no modulation (around 10 O’ Clock on the pot) for a half hour with the filter and amp latched open and when I came back both the filter and programmable destination were modulating and I had to find a new ‘0’ point…
In case anyone was following this, I spoke with Moog’s service department and they sent me SysEx files to calibrate the pots which solved the problem. Mod 2 now has the full amount of positive and negative modulation, and ‘noon’ is once again zero modulation
