Sup peeps! I haven’t experimented much with Duo mode, but when I have tried to make some nice pad type sounds, it seems a little too crunchy. It almost seems like it drives the filter really hard resulting in some pretty nasty overtones. I was wondered if anyone else has experienced this type of thing?
It might just be the nature of the beast but I was expecting to be able to get a little bit cleaner sounds in this mode.
I too think that the duo-mode sounds a bit overdriven. Similar to the sound of the Korg Volca keys in poly-mode when playing cords.
It might have to do with the fact that the oscillators share filter and amp..
I’m gonna post some sound examples later, maybe we can get some clarity from Amos.
The first thing to check: Are your MIXER knobs set to less than 12 o’clock (straight up or less)?
If any of them are beyond straight up then you are instructing the Sub 37 to add overdrive.
And (just checking to be thorough) do you have both the FDBK/EXT IN knob and the the MULTIDRIVE knobs set to zero?
Here’s a test to prove to yourself that it’s not specifically because of the DUO MODE:
Play an interval via DUO MODE (like a perfect fourth), observe the sonic result, then turn off the DUO MODE and use the Oscillator 2 FREQUENCY knob to manually create the identical perfect fourth interval. Are the results similar? If so, you’ve proven to yourself that it’s not the DUO MODE.
