Sub Phatty glitched/dropped notes

I have had my Sub Phatty for a while now and I have always had an issue with notes glitching or dropping out after a random amount of time. With hours of testing and parameter changes the SP still cannot play a sequence of notes without glitching out and ruining a recording, no matter how the notes are triggered (midi or manually) it continues to happen.

I assume that it isn’t a bug considering how long this synth has been available. Is this just how all Moogs work? I ask this because I have never encountered this problem with any other analog synths. I tried looking through the posts and haven’t seen any available solution. So I hope that someone can help.

This is my first Moog synth and I love the sound and I want to be able to use it, but these dropped notes are a deal breaker for me. If this cannot be fixed, I’m going to have to sell it and move on.

If anyone has had this issue and found a solution, I would appreciate your help.

that seems unusual to me.
The best bet is to contact Moog’s support. They are able to help you sort it out or service the unit if there is something wrong

Nothing like this is happening here since day one of my SubPhatty. And its here since it was introduced.

Thank you for your responses. Looks like I bought a dud. I would imagine that the shipping cost and wait time would only make this experience even more frustrating. I guess I will just have to sample the hell out of it, sell it for pennies on the dollar and chalk it up to an experience. My first and last Moog.

Thank you for your help guys.

Instead of giving up so soon, I’d first contact Moog tech support and see if they can help you out. It doesn’t sound like an issue I’ve heard about before, and I’ve been hanging out here since I bought my Sub Phatty in 2013.

I appreciate your input. I have invested plenty of my own time trying to fix this issue. I will take one last step and contact them but I’m not interested in paying for shipping or repairs. So if they are not willing to make this right at their cost. I’m done with Moog.

I don’t think this was ever a known issue for older firmware versions, but just to be sure: what firmware version is your Sub Phatty running?

The last firmware update applied was using SubPhatty_v298_2_0_6.syx. I wish it was just a firmware problem, but I think it may be more than that.

And you experience this issue when your Sub Phatty is connected to a DAW? If so, do you disable local control on the synthesizer? If not, you might have a MIDI feedback loop.

I emailed the problem to Moog and will wait to see what their solution will be.

I thought of that and tested it. It’s not a midi feedback loop because it also happens when I play the keyboard manually.

Disabling local control had no effect. The notes still glitched or dropped out when being midi sequenced.

This is a known problem, i also experience the dropping out of tones and hope it’s solved in the next fw update, if ever.
I also provided Moog with a video (not mine) where this occurs. https://youtu.be/A25krG481aY?t=320 So, you’re not alone!

Amos sent me the beta version of the latest firmware and that seems to have solved the problem. Thanks to everyone who responded.

What is the version number of the firmware if i may ask?

The latest Sub Phatty beta firmware is version 2.1.12.

I know, just wondering which firmware was sent to Ratskull… because in the latest beta the bug is still here.

The version is: Sub_Phatty_Firmware_Beta_v2.1.12

Before applying this firmware, the “SubPhatty_Erase_Firmware” sysex file was applied to clear out any previous firmware issues.

Hey, would you mind posting a link to that firmware? Thank you
