Howdy-
I can read from the SubP and I can send patches. That’s good. But I expect to be able to turn the knob on the SubP and see the knob turn on the screen. And I figured if I turned the knob on the screen that the sound would change on the SubP. But neither of those last two things are happening. Is that how the editor is supposed to work or is it working and I just am trying to use it for the wrong stuff and I should stop trying to trouble-shoot it?
TIA,

Both of those things work on my setup (Sub Phatty connected via USB to laptop with OS X 10.8.5). What firmware are you running? The Sub Phatty Editor manual states it requires version 1.27 or later.
Thanks for the reply and confirmation I’m not hoping for too much. Firmware is 2.0.1 and the editor is 1.0.3. I’ll open a ticket with support.
Thanks,

Hi There,
Did the same problem. Try this : go to the “Prefs” and check if Midi IN channel has number 1. My editor (in standalone) doesn’t work if not on Midi IN Channel 1.
Check this out and let us know ![]()
Well eff me. Thank you. When I set the input channel to 1 I get communications form the PC to the editor. When I turn off the MIDI output filter, I get it the other way. Thanks, team!
Now, can you make my Command Station talk USB to their editor? ![]()
So i’m not the only one having this behavior. Anyway, glad that you’ve solved the problem with my little trick ![]()
The probable answer to your question about USB configuration and communication between the Sub Phatty and the Editor can be found on page 4 of the Editor User’s Manual. You should set up Preferences before doing anything else with the Editor.
I appreciate you chiming in but before you get all RTFM on me, the manual says if you’re using USB, to select the MIDI in and out on the left side of the prefs dialog and that the rest of your global elections will be displayed on the right. In my case, I chain the Phatty off of a sequencer on MIDI 5 but use the keyboard to send notes to the next box in the line on MIDI 1. The manual is mum on advising the user to change their Phatty to MIDI 1 for use with the editor and on making sure the MIDI filter isn’t engaged. I suppose to the expert user the latter should be obvious, but the former isn’t.

I haven’t tried it, but I guess you should be able to use the editor on another channel than 1. If your Sub Phatty is on channel 5 then you should also configure channel 5 in the editor. Or is the channel not configurable in the editor (I’m not with my Sub Phatty and editor right now)?
